Country Music Association Awards 2011

Hollywood teen age singer Swift is one of 4 country stars with her 5 nominations as the CMA’s top award 2011 entertainer of the year. Swift will compete Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley and Jason Aldean in the entertainer category while Shelton, Aldean and Paisley were the others five nominations apiece. The Band Perry and Zac Brown Band were next with four. The awards nominations marked a breakthrough for Shelton and Aldean both first time nominees and long overlooked at awards. Singer Swift, Paisley and Urban have each won an entertainer trophy.

Star Jake Owen and The Band Perry made the initial announcement of 7 categories on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America.’ Jerrod Niemann two time nominees and Thompson Square announced the remainder of the nominees at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Singer Swift is up for female vocalist of the year with Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans and Miranda Lambert they won the honor on her 27th birthday last year. Shelton will defend his male vocalist of the year award this year and Urban, Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Aldean who had three nominations.

Band Perry will compete with Lady, Zac Brown Band, Rascal Flatts and little big town in the vocal group category. Sibling trio nominated with Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Chris Youg and Thompson Square in the new artist of the year category. The year nominations went to Aldean for ‘My Kinda Party,’ Shelton for ‘All About Tonight,’ pop singer Swift for ‘Paisley’s,’ ‘Speak Now,’ ‘You Get What You Give,’ ‘This is Country Music’ by Zac brown band. Carrie Underwood and Paisley will host the award show and live on November 9 from Nashville on ABC.
